One of the most questions that we receive is the difference between SEO and PPC. These acronyms are small but they hold great importance when it comes to marketing your business.
Understanding these concepts can benefit you tremendously.
SEO
SEO is Search Engine Optimization. In layman terms- It is your website being displayed on Google search results. SEO is organic ranking where you work on your website using backlinks and keywords and gradually increase your ranking on Google. It requires keyword research and is time consuming however, the results are long term.
Google’s algorithm looks at multiple factors to determine your ranking. Some of which are:
- Link Building
- On Page SEO
- Technical SEO
- Content Marketing
Since all these are an ongoing process, it takes time to increase the ranking as it continuously updates. It takes a while for the website to be displayed on the first page of google ranking, however, once it is displayed, it is most likely going to be displayed there-- as long as you continue working on your SEO strategy.
PPC
PPC is Pay-Per-Click. With this, your website will be displayed within the first two positions of the Google Search Page. The word “Ad” will be displayed next to your listing. This is a paid opportunity but it benefits greatly because your listing will be shown in the keywords that you choose.
You will need to research which keywords work best for your website and bid on those keywords. Your ranking and your online presence determines the amount you will pay when a consumer clicks on your ad. Each keyword will be a different cost and you will only be charged for each click on your ad.
Which to choose?
The answer is : BOTH.
If you can allocate a budget, it is recommended that you utilize both in your marketing strategy. Searching for Keywords and using them in your PPC strategy will allow you to see which keywords are beneficial to your business. You can also use those keywords and create content that will increase your SEO.
The best way to ultimately increase your ranking is to collaborate marketing campaigns with the data from SEO and PPC.
SEO and PPC are integral parts of a successful marketing campaign. Using these two will allow you to learn more about your customers and what they are looking for. It allows you to create content that will work better for you and you will be able to create a strategy which is tailored more towards your business.
